An active member of
the community, Pastor Abbott has served as Chaplain of the Maryland
State Police and the Chaplain of Police for the city of Vidor,
Texas. While in his Ohio ministry, Pastor Abbott was a member
of the Kiwanis Club of Middletown. He currently serves as the
Chaplain of the Sunset Police Department and is a director with the
Bowie Chamber of Commerce.
His approach to
ministry is pastoral with a strong emphasis on urging his flock to
make Christ the Lord of their lives.
Mrs. Irene Abbott grew up in Kansas. Her father was a deacon
in the Centropolis Baptist church. She is not the only member of her
family in ministry. Her brother, Rev. Irvin Middlebusher
pastors the Ochletree Baptist Church in Spring Hill, Kansas.
Her daughter, Becky is married to Daniel Garcia. Daniel is the
assistant pastor of Eastside Baptist Church in Independence,
Missouri. They have two Daughters, Rachel and Hannah.
A
1966 graduate of Baptist Bible College, Irene returned to
Springfield, Missouri to work as Assistant Dean for the college.
She was in charge of 108 female students until her marriage in 1968.
She frequently speaks at ladies retreats and banquets and has a
strong teaching and mentoring ministry with her ladies.
