The Rev. Ron Abbott brings to the pulpit more than 4 decades of pastoral experience. He has pastored churches in Kansas, Maryland, Ohio and Texas. A 1971 graduate of Baptist Bible College, Pastor Abbott is a respected leader within the Baptist Bible Fellowship. He served two terms as Chairman of the Maryland State Baptist Bible Fellowship and twice as Secretary/Treasurer for the East Texas Fellowship. He is currently the Field Representative for BBFI representing Amazon Region of Brazil.
An active member of the community, Pastor has served as Chaplain of the Maryland State Police and the Chaplain of Police for the city of Vidor, Texas and Chaplain of the Sunset Police Department. While in his Ohio ministry, Pastor Abbott was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Middletown. He has served as associate director with the Bowie Chamber of Commerce. Mrs. Irene Abbott grew up in Kansas. Her father was a deacon in the Centropolis Baptist Church. She is not the only member of her family in ministry. A 1966 graduate of Baptist Bible College, Irene returned to Springfield, Missouri to work as Assistant Dean for the collage. She was in charge of 108 female students until her marriage in 1968. She frequently speaks at ladies retreats and banquets and has a strong teaching and mentoring ministry with her ladies. Her brother, Rev. Irvin Middlebusher pastors the Ochletree Baptist Church in Spring Hill, Kansas. Their daughter, Becky, is married to Daniel Garcia. They have two daughters, Rachel and Hannah.
.Bro. Jimmy McElhaney grew up in Palmer, Texas and was saved at the age of 6 at Fundamental Baptist Church. He surrendered to full-time ministry when he was 16 at Lake Texoma Baptist Youth Camp. Bro. Jimmy spent 3 years studying music at Howard Payne University and has taught Sunday school and children’s church. Bro. Jimmy graduated from Texas Baptist Bible College with a Bachelor of Theology in May 2014. He joined Calvary Baptist in March 2015. Bro. Jimmy teaches our teens, leads the congregation in song, and helps pastor Abbott wherever it is needed. Bro. Jimmy’s desire is to reach the lost for Christ and to train young people to be disciples of Christ. He enjoys fishing, camping, and loves Texas Rangers baseball. Bro. Jimmy married his wife, Rebecca McElhaney, in June 2004 and they have 3 wonderful children, Kaitlin, Kailee, and Karson.
