Father's Day Poem
Reminiscence
Barber shop,
Clippings drop.
A picture on the wall
takes me home.
“It looks like the old
home place, I said.”
But it sure was hard
on Mom and Dad.
The things I knew, and
suffered through
These young folks just
can’t know.
Says to me, “It’s sure
been warm”,
But looks like rain,
or maybe snow.”
Magazines are fun to
read
and bring back
memories.
But these aren’t news,
it’s plain to see,
They’re more like
history.
A little off the ears
The strap, flap, flap.
That cream is nice and
warm.
Been sick a spell, sad
to tell.
Yep, that picture
takes me home.
Almost done. “Is that
your son?”
“Yeah. He’s in for a
little while”.
“Here’s something for
you.”
And with quarters two
He turned and left
with a smile.
